Friends of The Venny Meeting

Attention all Friends of The Venny.

Happy New Years to you all.

There will be a meeting on Wednesday 7th February at 7 pm at The Venny.

Venny Management and board members will be attending and are looking forward to it.

This will provide an opportunity for us all to outline future directions and for community members to offer feedback or offer ideas for future directions.

I can confirm that the recently appointed business development manager Debbie Maziarz will also be attending.

Items on the agenda :

1. Update you on what is happening at The Venny
2. Reflect and share on how you see the function of Friends of The Venny and individual roles within it.
3. Introduce our newest team member, Debby Maziarz.
4. Introduce our strategic planning process for 2018/19 and invite you to participate in that process.
5. Receive feedback on how you would like to work with The Venny going forward
6. Share how we would like to collaborate with Friend of The Venny in the future
7. Other items for discussion

We extend the invitation to other community members who may be interested in attending.

Australia Day and Guys Group

The Venny will be closed on January 26th due to the Australian day public holiday.
Due to the public holiday, Guys Group will be on Thursday the 25th of January 5:30pm-8pm.

Edible Garden Tour

Transition town will be hosting a two hour tour of the small inner city suburb of Kensington that shows how local residents working with community organizations, local government and business are building food security in the city, by producing local, nutrient rich and chemical free food for local consumption.

Transition towns gentle rambling tour takes you to seven unique locations where you will hear from the individual or group who set it up about their inspiration, the projects challenges and outcomes in our hopes to inspire and encourage you to find new ways of producing and consuming food.

The tour will conclude at The Venny Inc. where light refreshments will be provided. This is about local action taken to address environmental damage.

Sunday 18th February 2018
Two tours: 10 am to 12 pm and 3pm to 5 pm

Your tour guide will be: Jacqueline van Heerden, a local resident, Permaculturist and Transition Town Kensington Co-Founder.

The tour is run by Transition Town Kensington with support from Kensington Neighbourhood House Herb Share members, Unison Housing, Kensington Community Food Forest – Forest Care Team, The Venny Inc, Vincent Care PAG group and Living Learning Australia.

The Venny Garden

Look what the children and community grew at The Venny! We will be using the giant zucchini in dinner tonight at guys group. If you would like to volunteer and help us grow more healthy food, The Venny is open on Friday’s 10:30am- 1pm for community members to help maintain the garden and have a cup of tea.
